Clintons speak at Penn State Altoona, Penn State Hershey

April 04, 2008

Former President Bill Clinton spoke on the campus of Penn State Altoona Thursday (April 3) night, while earlier in the day Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. HillaryClinton, spoke at Penn State Hershey. The visits came on behalf of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

Bill Clinton made his third trip to a Penn State campus this year, having already spoken at the University's Brandywine and University Park campuses. Hundreds of students and community members filled Altoona's Adler Atheltic Complex to see the former president, who outlined his wife's campaign points on education, the environment, health care and the war in Iraq.

The visits were part of Penn State's effort to expose students to the 2008 presidential campaign, part of the University's open-door policy to host campaign stops during this primary season

In addition to visits by Bill and Chelsea Clinton, Penn State has also welcomed this campaign season Hillary Clinton to the Fayette campus and fellow Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama to the University Park campus. Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin is expected to speak on behalf of Obama Friday (April 4) afternoon at Henderson Building on the University Park campus, while Republican candidate Rep. Ron Paul is scheduled to speak at Thomas Building on the University Park campus on April 11.
