Richard Durbin, the senior senator from Illinois and majority whip of the U.S. Senate, visited on Friday (April 4) Penn State's University Park campus and spoke about his support for fellow Prairie State Sen. Barack Obama's presidential candidacy. Durbin spoke to a crowd of about 100 Penn State students and community members in Henderson South Building, discussing his personal history with Obama as well as his reasons for supporting Obama's candidacy. The visits were part of Penn State's effort to expose students to the 2008 presidential campaign, part of the University's open-door policy to host campaign stops during this primary season.
