Blood drive scheduled Wednesday in honor of track coach

University Park, Pa. — The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Wednesday (May 7) at Gate B of the Bryce Jordan Center in honor of Fritz Spence, assistant track and field coach at Penn State who was recently diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Since beginning treatment, Spence regularly has used blood and platelets, and the blood drive in his honor offers an opportunity to show support for Spence and his family. It also gives individuals the potential to give the fift of life to others. Every two seconds, someone needs blood and a unit of one person's blood could help up to three hospital patients.

Blood given at this blood drive will be used to help patients throughout the region. Visit psuredcross.org to schedule an appointment.
