First Thursday State College continues Aug. 7

First Thursday State College will continue its celebration of the arts on Aug. 7, with exhibits, performances and activities at locations throughout downtown State College and the Penn State campus. Parking is free that evening at all municipal street meters, the parking lots on Fraser Street and on Beaver Avenue and Allen Street (across from Municipal Building), and the McAllister parking deck. Participating venues will be marked by sidewalk posters. Events for August on the University Park campus include:

Exhibits:
-- 8 a.m.–10 p.m.: "Anyone Would Have Done That: The Rescue of the 13 Jews from Ergoldsbach," Diversity Studies Room, 109 Pattee Library.

-- "My Beloved Cartoonists: Original Cartoon Art from Fred Waring's America"—in the Pattee Library main exhibit hall.

-- 8 a.m.–5 p.m.: "Faster, Higher and Stronger: The Modern Olympic Games," featuring the personal Olympic collection of Penn State alumnus Hal Wilson, '51, Frank and Mary J. Smeal Foundation Exhibits Hall, 104 Paterno Library.

Special Gallery Talk on the Olympic Exhibit:

-- 4 p.m.: Hal Wilson will present a gallery talk about his Olympic collection, in 104 Paterno Library.

All events are free and open to the public.
