Penn State Shenango Alumni Society will host its second annual Poker Run Aug. 23. All proceeds and contributions will benefit Penn State Shenango student scholarships and special funds projects. The Poker Run will consist of several stops along a 100-mile stretch with opportunities to win great prizes through a Chinese raffle, 50/50 drawing and, of course, the best poker hand of the day. Dinner at Tully's in downtown Sharon and entertainment will be included with all registrations, as well as free T-shirts to the first 30 paid participants.
Sponsorships are available for this event. The following levels are available: Nittany Lion Sponsor ($1,000) -- includes four participants with event shirts, logo and business name on event shirt, recognition on poker card and Web site; Blue Sponsor ($500) -- includes two participants with event shirts, business name on event shirt, recognition on poker card and Web site; White Sponsor ($100) -- includes business name on event shirt and recognition on poker card and Web site; Prize Sponsor (donation of your choice) -- includes recognition on poker card and Web site.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Aug. 23, in the Penn State Shenango McDowell Hall parking lot on Shenango Avenue in downtown Sharon. The Poker Run will start at 11 a.m. leaving Penn State Shenango and heading out toward Cianci's in Greenville. It will continue on to Street, Track and Trail in Conneaut Lake, then out to Wilhelm Winery in Hadley and back to The Brass Lantern in Reynolds. The Poker Run's final destination will be Tully's in downtown Sharon, where entertainment, prizes and dinner will await the riders at 4 p.m.
The cost to participate is $20 for the driver and $15 for each rider. Make checks payable to Penn State Shenango Alumni Society Poker Run. Pre-registration forms need to be returned with payment by Aug. 11 to: Penn State Shenango Poker Run, Alumni Relations Office, 147 Shenango Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
