Big Ten Network launched on Comcast

University Park, Pa. -- Comcast Cable subscribers in Pennsylvania and most other Big Ten states are now able to access the Big Ten Network (BTN) on their cable systems.

According to Comcast, BTN is found on most expanded basic cable systems in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. According to the Big Ten Network Web site, in Philadelphia the network will launch on Comcast's "digital classic" level of service, to which the vast majority of the company's Philadelphia customers already subscribe. Iowa also is a Big Ten state but Comcast does not serve customers in that commonwealth. Outside Big Ten states, Comcast may carry the network on any level of service, including its Sports Entertainment Package. Comcast has not yet determined where it will carry the network outside the eight Big Ten states, or on what service level.

Comcast subscribers in the State College area will find the Big Ten Network on channel 55. The network also will be broadcast in high definition on channel 191. Comcast subscribers in other areas should check their local cable listings to find the channel.
