As part of a yearlong celebration of the campus' 50th anniversary, Penn State Berks is holding a major celebration that kicks off at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Penn State President Graham B. Spanier will be on hand, along with the campus' three leaders over the last 50 years: Chancellor Susan Phillips Speece, Frederick Gaige and Harold Perkins. After a short program, the student time capsule will be unveiled and there will be birthday cake and "Berks Bits" 50th anniversary ice cream under the tent. Hot air balloon rides, a 50th anniversary postage cancellation stamp and music will make this a day to remember.
The celebration will be followed by a campus history book signing event from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Bookstore. A fireworks display at 9 p.m. will conclude the festivities. All events are free to the public.
