Penn State wrestling history chronicled in new book

University Park, Pa. — A new book chronicles the first 100 years of Penn State wrestling — from its beginnings in the early 20th century as intramural "scraps" to today's successful intercollegiate program.

The 272-page A Century of Penn State Wrestling, compiled and written by the Penn State Wrestling Club, features action shots and team photos of all the Nittany Lion wrestlers in program history, as well as records, honors, Olympic participation and personal memories from former wrestlers. Since its first match against Cornell in 1909, 18 Penn State wrestlers have won 21 national titles, and Penn State remains the only eastern squad to win an NCAA team title.

Books cost $28 (including postage and shipping) and can be ordered at www.pennstatewrestlingclub.org, or by contacting Connie Christiansen, Centennial Committee Chair, 1155 Smithfield St., State College PA, 16801, or (814) 238-2160.
