Race against racism 5k run/walk sends message of unity

University Park, Pa. — A 5k run/walk at 10 a.m. on Oct. 5 is intended to send a message that racism is not welcome in the community. The event will provide opportunities for participants to learn about local organizations and anti-racism efforts.

The course begins at the East Halls quad and consists of one loop around the Penn State University Park campus, ending where it begins. It is a mostly flat course with a couple of short, steep hills. The long stretches on Curtin Road are gentle downhills. Total elevation chance is 133 feet with an average grade of two percent.

Preregister for the race by Oct. 2 by going to www.sa.psu.edu/rl. Pre-registration is $12 and $15 the day of the race. Proceeds benefit the Association of Residence Hall Students. T-shirts will be given to the first 250 people registered. Additional giveaways may be announced during race day. Prices will be given to the top three finishers in the men and women's categories.
