Center for Nutrition/Activity Promotion wins congressional accolade

The U.S. House of Representatives, led by Rep. Todd R. Platts (representing Pennsylvania's 19th District), proclaims October as National Apple Month and October 29 as Apple Crunch day. Organized by the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion, Apple Crunch Day is a statewide celebration that emphasizes the apple and apple products as a healthy snack. During the 2007/2008 school year, Apple Crunch Day was celebrated by more than 850 public/private schools throughout Pennsylvania. With the support of National Apple Month, Pennsylvania's celebration has continued to grow in popularity across the country.

As the resolution states "Apple Crunch Day, held on Oct. 29, 2008, is an event that focuses on healthy food choices, particularly apples, for students, schools and the community."
