'Recognizing and Helping Students in Distress' topic for luncheon

November 04, 2008

Faculty may not know when academic floundering, incivility or inappropriate behavior are occurring in a student who is experiencing emotional problems.

Mary Anne Knapp, clinical social worker, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), will lead a case discussion surrounding these issues from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in 315 Rider Building, University Park. This is part of the ongoing Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence Fall Luncheon Series. It will provide an opportunity for faculty to learn what they can do to identify and refer students with psychological issues or addiction.

Participating Polycom locations are Berks, Lehigh Valley and York. Go to http://schreyerinstitute.psu.edu/Register/ to register. Faculty who are not at a participating location, but interested in viewing the luncheon, are asked to contact their instructional design specialist or contact Schreyer at site@psu.edu or (814) 863-2599.
