Two Penn State Beaver faculty members recently gave presentations at Penn State University Park.
Cassandra Miller-Butterworth, assistant professor of biology, presented "Illuminating the Darkness: The Upside Down World of Bat Research" which focused on Miller-Butterworth's 10 years of research on bat genetics. The presentation was given at the Department of Forestry as part of her department's Fall Seminar Series. Clare E. Conry-Murray, assistant professor of psychology, presented "When Morality and Convention Clash: The Development of Reasoning about Gender and Fairness" as part of the Developmental Psychology Proseminar.
Miller-Butterworth holds doctorate and bachelor's degrees in zoology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and has conducted post-doctoral research in the Laboratory of Genomic Diversity at Maryland's National Cancer Institute as well as in the Department of Human Genetics in the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health.
Conry-Murray holds a doctorate in human development and education from the University of California at Berkeley, a master's degree in secondary education in urban schools, English from Boston College and a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in humanities from the Evergreen State College in Washington. She has taught at Berkeley, the University of Rochester and the University of Massachusetts.
