According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, influenza kills more people in the United States than all other vaccine-preventable diseases combined every year. For the 2008-2009 flu season, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics have expanded the recommendation for flu vaccination to include all children ages 6 months to 18 years. For information regarding flu vaccines recommendations for children, visit the American Academy of Pediatrics online.
