Alumni plan THON gala in New York City

Nearly a dozen College of Communications alumni are organizing the 2009 Hope Gala, to be held Jan. 23, in New York City to benefit the Penn State Dance Marathon and the Four Diamonds Fund.

The inaugural event will include a sit-down dinner, cocktails, live and silent auctions, Four Diamonds families, speakers, raffles and dancing. It will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at Capitale, a New York City Historic Landmark Building on the Lower East Side at 130 Bower.

Aaron Jones (’05 Adv/PR), a media supervisor at PHDAD/PR, is overall chairperson for the gala. Meghan Day (’03 Telecom), manager of business development and special events at Gerson Lehrman Group, is an event co-chair. Amy Kleger (’06 Adv/PR) of McCann Erickson WorldGroup and Michele Zachar (’04 Adv/PR) of Universal McCann are communications co-chairs.

Other committee members include Hailey Apter (’07 Adv/PR), Kerry Bergman (’06 Adv/PR), Caitlin Bruno (’06 Adv/PR), Katherine Hansen (’06 Media Studies), Gia Kornet (’05 Journ), Samantha Marpe (’06 Adv/PR) and Max Pipman (’02 Journ).

Tickets to the gala are $175. Tickets may be purchased by mailing a check to Penn State Alumni Association New York City Chapter, P.O. Box 2927, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10163-2927. Orders also may be placed at online.
