Kumara named adjunct professor at Indian university

Soundar Kumara, the Allen E. Pearce/Allen M. Pearce Chaired Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, was recently named an adjunct professor at the C.R. Rao Advanced Institute for Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science (AIMSCS) at the University of Hyderabad, India.

The purpose of the institute is to promote research and advanced study in math, statistics and computer science.

Kumara's selection for the position was based on his significant contributions to the areas of engineering and science, along with his extensive career experience. Kumara will be visiting the institute in December to participate in research activities with faculty and students.

In addition to his visit, Kumara will deliver a plenary talk on network mining at the International Conference on Business Data Mining at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad.

At Penn State, Kumara teaches courses including Advanced Information Technology for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Intelligent Systems Design for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, and Expert Systems Design. His areas of research include intelligent systems, sensor data fusion, complex networks, process data monitoring and diagnostics and applied chaos theory.
