Employees now receiving new vision plan cards

University Park, Pa. — As previously announced during this year’s benefits Time to Choose, Penn State and Highmark Blue Shield have partnered to create a new vision plan that brings increased choices and greater value to Penn State’s employees benefit package, effective Jan.1.

Faculty and staff recently began receiving ID cards for the new "Fashion Advantage" Highmark Blue Shield Vision plan, which is administered by Davis Vision. Employees will now have separate Highmark Blue Shield ID cards for their health plan and for their vision plan.

The Highmark Blue Shield Vision plan card includes both the Highmark Blue Shield logo and the Penn State mark, with contact information for Davis Vision on the reserve side of the card. These  cards replace the National Vision Administrators (NVA) vision card, but they do not replace the PPOBlue health plan cards.  If an employee discards or destroys the PPOBlue card, he or she will need to contact Highmark at (800) 914-4384 to request a replacement card.
