New Kensington

Campus information booth at home expo in Mills Mall

As they shop for clothes or head to the movies, prospective students and summer campers can learn about Penn State New Kensington from Friday to Sunday, Feb. 6-8, at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall.

The campus has set up an information booth at the StrongLand Chamber of Commerce’s seventh annual Home Expo. With more than 7,000 visitors daily to the mall, the campus can provide helpful information to high school students and adult learners about higher education and parents of grade-school children about summer programs.

The Penn State booth is located by the front entrance of the JC Penny department store, which is in Neighborhood One of the mall. The show is free to the public.
Alumni and friends and former co-workers are encouraged to stop by and say hello to campus volunteers working the booths. Campus staff will work in two hour shifts from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, handing out literature and giving away Penn State pens, wrist bands, and post-it note packs.

The show also doubles as an opportunity for the local community and Penn Staters living in the Alle-Kiski Valley to meet the campus chancellor: Kevin Snider has the closing shift and will be at the booth from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday.

Additional volunteers are still needed to staff the booth form 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Volunteers can call Sharon Levett at (724) 334-6012.
