Four new members join the advisory board at Penn State Abington

Four new members joined the Penn State Abington College Advisory Board in January to begin their three-year term of service. Layli Alexander Esq., Andy Santacroce, Joe Lurquin Jr. and Dave Murcar were present at the first 2009 board meeting held on Jan. 22.

Alexander, one of the youngest members of the advisory board, attended all four years at Abington, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in administration of justice. Joe Lurquin attended Penn State Abington in the late 1960s and received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from University Park. Andy Santacroce is another Penn State alum, attending Abington in the 1980s and earning his mathematics degree from University Park in 1988. Dave Murcar is the only non-Penn Stater among the group, but no less enthusiastic about serving on the advisory board.

According to Alexander, "Penn State Abington is a wonderful institution of higher learning. As an alumnus and new member of the advisory board, I am honored to serve the academic community and work towards fulfilling the University's mission."

“I have long appreciated the education I received at Penn State University and the friendships and opportunities it has provided,” said Lurquin. “I look forward to helping today's students, who are tomorrow's leaders, have the same opportunities.”

The College Advisory Board began in the mid-1990s, consists of 30 members, and serves as an advocacy group — a group of professionals and leaders in the community who provide ongoing advice and financial support to the college.
