Shaver's Creek summer camps open for registration

February 04, 2009

Petersburg, Pa. — Summer camp registration is open for members of Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. Members may return their paper camp registration forms immediately by fax, mail or in person at the center. Online registration for members opens at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 10. For non-members, registration opens at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 24, either online or by paper forms.

Only 12 miles from Penn State's University Park campus, the center is nestled in the ridge-and-valley area of central Pennsylvania, between State College and Huntingdon, in the Stone Valley Recreation Area of the Penn State Experimental Forest, which sits on 7,000 acres and contains the 72-acre Lake Perez. Each year, more than 100,000 children and parents, students and educators, individuals and groups visit or take part in our festivals, Penn State classes, bird and animal shows, teambuilding programs, school day trips, Outdoor School, summer camps, public programs and youth/scout programs.

Visitors are reminded to mark their calendars for the center's annual Maple Harvest Festival, held March 28-29 this year.

For instructions on how to register for summer camps or become a member, visit Shaver’s Creek online at, or call Shaver’s Creek directly at (814) 863-2000 or (814) 667-3424. Ask for Tammi, Nikki, Joann or Jeff.
