Lion Ambassadors organize birthday party for University

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State will be 154 years old Feb. 22 and to celebrate the University's birthday, the Penn State Lion Ambassadors served up a series of events, from giant birthday cards around campus to a birthday party in the HUB-Robeson Center on Feb. 18.

The celebration began at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at East Halls with Penn State trivia games, raffle prizes, birthday cards, refreshments and a serving of Penn State history.

The party continued from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the HUB-Robeson Center. The celebration included thousands of cupcakes; performances by the step team of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, Whipple Jam band, and Blue Band trumpeters; appearances by the Nittany Lion and cheerleaders; and a helping of history through videos, La Vie yearbooks, and a talk by University Trustee George Henning. The Lion Ambassadors also passed out historical information, hot chocolate and cookies outside of the Forum Building on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Throughout the three-day celebration, the Lion Ambassadors posted Penn State birthday cards around the University Park campus detailing the history of the University's founding.
