Participants needed for fitness study at Noll Laboratory

University Park, Pa. -- Men and women are needed to participate in a study that is examining the role of fitness level on the blood flow response to leg exercise.  Participants can be at any fitness level and must be 21-30 or 60–80 years old, healthy, nonsmokers, who are not currently taking blood pressure or cholesterol medications, hormone therapy, or (for younger women) birth control medications.

The study involves screening blood-work (including cholesterol), treadmill exercise, body composition assessment, vascular health measurements, and several study visits involving Doppler ultrasound (noninvasive) assessment of leg blood flow during kicking exercise. Additional procedures involve strength testing and exercise tests to measure muscle fatigue. Participants will be paid a total of $80 for their participation in the entire study and will also receive the results from the tests. Interested men and women should contact Martha Kalasky by e-mail at mjk5013@psu.edu or phone (814) 863-3183.
