Communications-specific job fairs open doors on, off campus

February 24, 2009

Two communications-specific job fairs provide opportunities for students in the College of Communications at Penn State to meet with prospective employers on campus and in New York City during the months of March and April.

The first of the two events, JobExpo.Com(munications), brings businesses from a range of communications fields to the University Park campus and allows students and alumni from the College of Communications to meet with prospective employers. In the past eight years, more than 3,000 students and 375 businesses have attended the event.

This year, the event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, in Alumni Hall of the HUB-Robeson Center.

A few weeks later, students from all four departments in the the College of Communications — advertising/public relations, film-video and media studies, journalism and telecommunications — travel to New York City for "Success in the City," a Penn State-specific job fair in the heart of the Big Apple.

From noon to 5 p.m. Friday, April 17, students will meet with recruiters in a variety of communications fields at the Time Warner Center.

Along with providing opportunities for students, both job fairs expose prospective employers to an energetic and talented pool of potential employees. Both events are free for recruiters. Information and registration forms may be found at online. Additional information also may be obtained by calling the Office of Internships and Career Placement in the College of Communications at (814) 863-4674.
