Penn State leading Norwegian workshop on communicating science

February 24, 2009

University Park, Pa. -- Over spring break, Michael Alley from the College of Engineering and Melissa Marshall from the Department of Communication Arts & Sciences will lead a Norwegian national workshop on communicating science.

The 2.5-day workshop, which will take place just outside of Oslo, Norway, will instruct more than 70 researchers in engineering and science from the five major universities of Norway. Funded by StatoilHydro and Telenor, the workshop will include modules on scientific presentations, scientific writing, and communicating science to the general public. The workshop features communication strategies that are regularly taught at Penn State in graduate student workshops and in the engineering sections of CAS 100A.
