Former sociology lecturer dies in California

University Park, Pa. -- Linda Perry, 68, former senior lecturer in sociology at Penn State from 2000 to 2008, died in Irvine, Calif., Nov. 16. She was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Manchester, N.H. She received her bachelor's degree in anthropology from Radcliffe College and went on to pursue her doctoral degree in anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh, studying women's issues for two years in Japan. She taught at Yale and the University of Texas at Dallas before coming to Penn State. She is survived by her husband George Farkas of the University of California at Irvine, her sister Jalna Perry in Boston, and her son David Farkas, a student at Penn State.
