Personett earns fourth Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on the season

University Park, Pa. — Penn State junior women's gymnast Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced. It is the eighth career honor and the fourth of the season.

Personett earned the Ann Carr Award for the most inspirational gymnast of the meet, helping lead Penn State to a first place finish over No. 11 Alabama and No. 19 Ohio State last week after posting a career-best 39.600 in the all-around. Her score marked the highest all-around total since the 2003 season. The Katy, Texas native tallied a first-place 9.900 on vault, a first-place and career-high 9.925 on bars, a sixth-place 9.825 on beam and a first-place and career-high-tying 9.950 on floor en route to the all-around crown, her fifth individual all-around title of the season. The vault title was the seventh of the season for Personett, who also picked up her third uneven bars crown, her seventh floor title and her sixth individual all-around first-place finish. The meet will be televised on the Big Ten Network on Sunday, March 8 at noon.

Penn State now hits the road for the next two weekends, traveling to West Virginia on March 8 and Maryland with Arizona on March 14 before competing at the Big Ten Championships on March 21 in Champaign, Ill. That meet will begin at 2 p.m. ET and will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
