Chelsea art dealer to give public performance and demonstration

University Park, Pa. -- New York art dealer Leo Koenig will give a free public performance at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the Palmer Lipcon Auditorium, Palmer Museum of Art, on the Penn State University Park campus. He will give an interactive performance, also featuring Nicole Eisenman, A.K. Burns and Celese Dupuy Spencer, that demonstrates his story behind starting an art gallery. The Penn State School of Visual Arts' John M. Anderson Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series sponsors Koenig's performance.

Koenig opened his gallery, Leo Koenig Inc., in 1999 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and in 2005, moved it to its current location on West 23rd Street in the heart of New York City's Chelsea district. With a focus on painting and sculpture, the gallery's current artists include internationally renowned, emerging and mid-career artists, including painter and installation artist Eisenman. Her exhibitions include paintings, drawings and collages and have shown nationally and internationally in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris and Zurich.
