Cultural critic Dave Hickey to give lecture

University Park, Pa. — Dave Hickey, art and cultural critic, will give a free public lecture at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, in the HUB Auditorium on the Penn State University Park campus. The Graduate Student Association for Visual Culture, the HUB Robeson Galleries and the Penn State School of Visual Arts' John M. Anderson Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series are co-sponsoring Hickey's lecture.

Hickey received his doctorate from the University of Texas and is a professor of English at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Previously, he was the owner of A Clean Well-Lighted Place, an art gallery in Austin, Texas and director of Reese Palley Gallery in New York. He has been an executive editor for Art in America Magazine, contributing editor for The Village Voice, staff songwriter for Glaser Publications in Nashville, and arts editor for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He has written for numerous publications, including Rolling Stone, Art News, Art in America, Harper's Magazine and Vanity Fair. He was inducted into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame in 2003.
