March 26, 2009

University Park, Pa. — Artist Richard Kabiito will give a free public lecture, "Reinventing Ganda Pedagogical Strategy in Pre-colonial Africa," at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, in 121 Borland Building on the Penn State University Park campus. Kabiito's paintings are a reinvention of local Ugandan references situated in global politics of culture. Kabiito will share his Bagandan oral culture accentuated with bodily practices as vital pedagogy for continuing an indigenous knowledge system.

College of Arts and Architecture International Programs, the Office of Administration, Research and Graduate Studies, and the Penn State School of Visual Arts' John M. Anderson Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series are co-sponsoring Kabiito's lecture.
