Three honored with Rustum and Della Roy Award

Two students and a faculty member have been honored with the Rustum and Della Roy Innovation Materials Research Award.

This prestigious scholarship was established by Rustum and Della Roy, Penn State alumni and longtime faculty members. The award 'recognizes genuine innovation not previously achieved.'

Yuebing Zheng, a graduate student in engineering science and mechanics, and Mohan Manoharan, a graduate student in mechanical engineering, both winners in the student category, were awarded $500 each for their work in interdisciplinary materials research.

Jian Xu, assistant professor of engineering science and mechanics, was named the winner in the junior faculty, post-doctorate category. He received $1,000 for his research efforts.

The three winners will be honored at a ceremony this fall.
