Marketing the focus of one-day classes for artists April 25 at Fayette

Artists or craftsmen interested in selling their work or enhancing their business skills, look no further than “An Introduction to Marketing and Technology for Artists,” a special program being offered at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus on Saturday, April 25. The one-day program is a partnership between the Fayette campus and Touchstone Center for Crafts. Whether attendees are photographers, painters, fine woodworkers or work in other artistic mediums, all artists and craftsmen are welcome. 
The one-day program is being offered in two sessions at the campus: "Photographing Artwork and Selling on the Internet," scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon; and "Pricing Artwork and Marketing Issues," which will follow from 1 to 4 p.m. There is a $59 fee for each class, or both classes may be taken for a discounted fee of $99.
Photographing Artwork and Selling on the Internet will be instructed by David Romero, an award-winning photographer and owner of Vibrant Image, a commercial photographic and Web design studio. Pricing Artwork and Marketing Issues will be led by Peter Eberle, a Penn State Fayette instructor of business and consultant to entrepreneurs.
“This is an opportunity for our campus to work more closely with Touchstone in the development and delivery of programs that will help local artists market and sell their products,” says Penn State Fayette Director of Outreach Joe Segilia.
Development of this program—plus an in-depth, week long offering scheduled for June—has been in the works since fall 2008. Segilia says, “Partnering with Touchstone, which offers a wide range of art and fine craft classes, was a good fit. Artists and craftsmen are very creative, but often can benefit by learning good business skills. Penn State Fayette is skilled at identifying and bringing to the table individuals who can share that kind of practical expertise with artists and craftsmen.”
