IE student team named top fundraiser for Relay for Life

A team of industrial engineering undergraduate and graduate students was named the top fundraising group for the 2009 Penn State Relay for Life.

The fifth-annual event, held April 17-18, benefits the American Cancer Society. The relay lasts 24 hours with team members walking around a track.

The industrial engineering team, dubbed ''Team IE,'' raised more than $7,600 for the effort. It is the second year in a row that an industrial engineering team was the top fundraiser.

This year's team included Rachel Abrahams, Gina Anselmo, Edward Aquilina, Denise Bauer, Tyler Carter, Aixa Cintron, Lorna Cintron, David Claudio, Lindsey Colosi, Monifa Vaughn-Cooke, Christina Kokini, Paul Lynch, Thomas Masteller, Lourdes Medina, Michael McGuire, Travis Mount, Emily Niman, John Polifko, Kristen Smith, David Sudit and James Wall.

Sudit also served as team captain.
