Services to commission new military officers

University Park, Pa. — Army, Naval and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) units at Penn State will commission their graduating seniors at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 15, at Schwab Auditorium on the University Park campus.

The three ROTC units at Penn State will honor 77 cadets and midshipmen who have successfully completed the four-year program by granting them the rank of second lieutenant in the Army, Marine Corps and Air Force or ensign in the Navy. The brand-new officers will then begin their active duty service at various duty stations throughout the world.

Rear Admiral John Terence Blake, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Budget and Director of the Navy’s Fiscal Division will be the guest speaker at the ceremony.

This important tradition marks the dawn of a new age of leadership for the United States Armed Forces.
