Spend a 'Night with the Bats' at Shaver's Creek

Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center will present "A Night with the Bats," from 7–9 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, at the center.

Hosted by environmental educator Amy Blake, the program is designed for adults and kids ages 10 and up to learn more about the bats that inhabit our area. Blake will introduce participants to the benefits of a healthy bat population, the challenges many bats are facing and things you can do to help bats. Guests may also help to construct bat boxes to install at Shaver’s Creek and assist Shaver’s Creek staff in the first monthly bat count for the year. Then, into the dusky hours of the night, stay to watch the amazing night departure of hundreds of bats from the center’s existing bat colony.

Reservations are requested by calling (814) 863-2000, and donations are suggested. For information on this and other upcoming programs at Shaver’s Creek visit www.ShaversCreek.org.
