Funds raised for Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital during 2008-09 totaled a record-breaking $3,202,513. The total was announced during the 25th annual Children’s Miracle Network Telethon on May 31. The broadcast, aired on WGAL-TV8 May 30-31, is the culmination of the fund-raising year for Children’s Miracle Network. WGAL-TV8 anchors and reporters hosted the 13-hour telethon from the WITF Public Media Center in Harrisburg.
Children’s Miracle Network also reached its goal to raise 750 pledges of $25 a month for 12 months during the telethon. This money will be used to purchase life saving equipment for the Children’s Heart Group at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

Top corporate donors this year included GIANT Food Stores, Citadel Broadcasting Company, Walmart and Sam’s Clubs, Rite Aid, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine employees, the employees of The Hershey Company and Auntie Anne’s Inc.
“Over the last 25 years, Children’s Miracle Network has raised $34 million for sick and injured children in central Pennsylvania,” said Jennifer Groff, director of Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. “We could not have reached this incredible milestone without the continued support and generosity of this community. Despite a strained economy, we were able to reach our goal one dollar at a time. Thank you!”
