Child at Bennett Center had H1N1, has made full recovery

University Park, Pa. — A child attending the Bennett Family Center at Penn State's University Park campus became ill in early June was later confirmed to have contracted H1N1 influenza, also known as swine flu. The child has recovered fully and has been cleared by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to return to the program.

Center administrators are in the process of notifying parents of other children in the center -- a full-year, full-day schedule children's program operated by the University's College of Health and Human Development -- that the illness had occurred.

The University and the Bennett Family Center followed Department of Health guidelines in addressing the illness.
