'Wireless State College' project to deliver information at Arts Fest

July 06, 2009

The Computer-Supported Collaboration and Learning Lab in Penn State's College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) has developed a mobile information system for the 2009 Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, available through www.statecollege.com using the free wireless network "StateCollegeWiFi" or other wireless hot spots.

The system provides users of WiFi-enabled mobile devices, including iPhones and other smartphones, with a way to access and search event schedules by time or location, view online maps of festival events and comment and interact with other festival attendees.

A hands-on orientation session for the system will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 in the lobby of the State College Municipal Building, at 243 S. Allen St., State College. For more information, please contact Craig Ganoe at cganoe@psu.edu.
