Penn State York information session set for July 30 in Hanover

Learn more about the programs being offered in Hanover by Penn State York during an information session scheduled to take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at the Hanover Wellness and Education Center, 400 York Street, Hanover. The program is free and open to the public.


Penn State York is offering credit courses in Hanover; learners may take a course, complete a credit certificate, take courses toward the bachelor of science in business degree, or take college courses while in high school through dual enrollment.

Jeff Warner, director of continuing education at Penn State York, will share information on the program offerings as well as discuss the importance of building a resume during these tough economic times. Warner will also share information for adult learners, explain the registration process, discuss employer tuition benefit programs as well as the financial aid options and the post 9/11 GI Bill, and answer questions.

Information on the opportunities available for high school students to take college courses will also be presented. Penn State York offers high school students the opportunity to take college courses at a 50 percent tuition reduction. This enables students to get a jump on their college careers by earning college credits while still in high school. High school students taking advantage of this exciting opportunity may earn an additional $1,000 scholarship for their first year in college by completing four courses (12 credits) and maintaining a 3.0 (B) grade-point average. This additional scholarship would apply to any student enrolling at Penn State York for their freshman year.
