Project Talent Connections Program makes a connection

July 30, 2009

Penn State Hershey and Penn State York recently partnered to host an educational field trip for the “Project Talent Connections Program” here at the Medical Center and College of Medicine. Project Talent Connections is a collaborative educational program offered by Penn State York and the Educational Talent Search Program to provide services for under-served, high-achieving middle school students through academic enrichment, counseling, mentoring, and the students-teaching-students model. Participants learned about careers in medicine through the teaching of two College of Medicine medical students, Bisi Sanusi and Mautin Hundeyin, followed by an inspirational challenge from Dr. Dwight Davis. Other highlights of the visit included a tour of the Simulation Center and a lecture on the artificial heart from Dennis Hicks. The visit ended with a tour of Life Lion. This is one of more than a dozen educational group tours offered by the Academic Placements Office throughout the year to high school and college students.
