Children with chronic pain needed for research study

August 13, 2009

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center researchers are seeking children with moderate to severe chronic pain for a research study involving pain medication. Chronic pain is ongoing pain that may last for months or even years.

Children 6- to 17-years-old who require strong medicine are needed to test the safety and tolerability of a pain medication. Participants will complete diaries about their pain, attend clinic visits and take study medication.

To be eligible, children must be between the ages of 6 and 17, have chronic pain requiring use of pain medication for at least five days per week and weigh at least 110 pounds.

For more information, call Sarah Sturgis at (717) 531-7762.

This research study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board, under federal regulations, at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
