Faculty and staff to receive Strategic Plan Executive Summary

The executive summary of "Priorities for Excellence: The Penn State Strategic Plan for 2009-10 through 2013-14" is being released this week. Copies are being sent to all of the University's full-time faculty and staff.

Rod Erickson, Penn State's executive vice president and provost, said the plan has been designed to help Penn State achieve maximum efficiency.

“Penn State is a world-class university and we thrive on the hard work, creativity and diversity of our faculty, staff and students, but in today’s challenging environment for higher education, goodwill and commitment alone aren’t enough," Erickson said. "The strategic planning process helps us to think carefully about the choices we make and the priorities we set as an institution, knowing that resources are increasingly scarce. We’ve sought extensive input from many stakeholders in developing the current plan and it’s important to continue communicating with faculty and staff about this process."

More information about the strategic plan, which was approved by Penn State's Board of Trustees in May, is available at http://www.psu.edu/president/pia/plans online. Action is now being taken to implement the strategies supporting each of the overarching goals for the University.
