September 14, 2009

Students in the College of Communications will have the opportunity to win an interview with a major communications company during a "Communications Idol" competition as part of an alumni mentoring and networking session Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Nittany Lion Inn.

The event, scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. in Ballroom C at the the Inn, allows student to meet Penn State alumni for career advice and networking. Free food will be available, and the first 50 students to attend will get a coupon for a free ice cream cone from the Berkey Creamery.

As part of the event, three students will be randomly selected to participate in the "Communications Idol" competition. The students will be asked three questions in a live, on-stage interview before three judges. The judges, all professionals in the communications field, will then select one student who will win an interview for a job or internship opportunity at Discovery Networks, Dick Jones Communication, BizBash or Rodale.

Participation is free, but limited to College of Communications students. Additional information may be found on a related Facebook event page.
