Self-defense class offered to women students

University Park, Pa. -- A basic introduction to self-defense techniques will be offered to currently enrolled women students from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 19, 21, 26 and 28 in 117 Weston Community Center at the White Course apartment complex on West Campus. The course is free and will be taught by certified instructors from Penn State University Police.

The techniques taught include awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance options; realistic, usable defense tactics; lecture and extensive hands-on training to enable students to develop confidence and proficiency and there is a free lifetime practice policy to return to any Rape Aggression Defense class anywhere.

Sign up is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in 204 Boucke. If additional information is needed, please call (814) 863-2027.
