Lecture to address the role of 'U.S. in the China-Taiwan Divide'

On Thursday, Oct. 1, Parris Chang will deliver a public lecture titled "U.S. Role in the China-Taiwan Divide." Sponsored by the Law School and the School of International Affairs, the lecture will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Lewis Katz Building, located off of Park Avenue and Bigler Road on Penn State's University Park campus.

Chang is a leading scholar and writer on China and Taiwan and a professor emeritus of political science at Penn State, where he taught from 1970 to 1997. He also has served as a member of Taiwan's Legislative Yuan (Parliament), where he was chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and chairman of the National Defense Committee, and more recently served as deputy secretary-general of Taiwan's National Security Council (2004-2006). In 1992, he received the Outstanding Asian-Pacific American Award.
