Ag alumni tailgate to benefit student scholarships and awards

University Park, Pa. -- The Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society is host for the college's Ag Live '09 Tailgate this Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Snider Ag Arena on the University Park campus. The tailgate will start at 8:30 a.m. and will feature a hearty buffet, complete with Berkey Creamery ice cream for dessert.

At 11 a.m., an hour before kickoff of the Penn State vs. Indiana game, attendees can bid on many valuable items in a live auction called by auctioneer Mark Keller. Auction proceeds will benefit student scholarships, internship awards and other alumni programs. Featured items will include: 
 

  • -- Penn State football weekend packages
  • -- Private wine and cheese tasting
  • -- Bed-and-breakfast packages, hotel stays and use of vacation condos and cabins
  • -- 2010 season football parking passes at the Snider Ag Arena
  • -- Autographed Penn State items

 
Attendees also can participate in a raffle for chances to win 30 prizes, such as Penn State memorabilia; gift baskets full of cheese, wine and chocolates; restaurant gift certificates; autographed Penn State books and other items. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the event for $1 each or 6 for $5.
 
Early arrivals will be treated to a performance by the Penn State cheerleaders and the Penn State Pep Band.
 
Tailgate tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for Penn State students and children ages 13 to 18; $10 for children ages 6 to 12; and free for children 5 and under. Registration deadline is Nov. 9.
