Penn State president to discuss flu prevention and treatment Oct. 20

University Park, Pa. -- Most areas of the United States are dealing with widespread influenza activity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More people are expected to seek professional treatment this year than in years past and new strains of the flu virus are affecting younger people, which have parents and employers worried about how to handle the situation.

Penn State President Graham Spanier and his guests, Thomas Terndrup and Betsy Hunt, will talk about prevention and treatment for the flu virus as well as response strategies for organizations and businesses on the upcoming edition of "To The Best Of My Knowledge."

The live call-in program airs at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, on WPSU-TV and WPSU-FM. It also airs on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN).

Terndrup is a professor and chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and associate dean for clinical research at Penn State’s College of Medicine. He is a graduate of the Penn State College of Medicine.

Betsy Hunt is the district epidemiology manager and communicable disease nurse for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Viewers and listeners are invited to join the conversation with questions or comments by calling (800) 543-8242 or e-mailing response@psu.edu during the broadcast.
