HUB-Robeson Galleries announce photo exhibition Nov. 6 to Jan. 10

University Park, Pa. -- A collection of photographs by Michelle Rogers will be on display in the Art Alley, on the first floor of the HUB-Robeson Center, Nov. 6 through Jan. 10, 2010.

The juxtaposed images, displayed in sets of three, bridge the gap between past and present within a single frame. The triptychs are printed in black and white, then bleached and toned in a mixture of selenium, blue, sepia and yellow toners to achieve the desired effect. Rogers incorporates old postcards and new original photographs to help thread an enigmatic narrative through the exhibit. Many of the photos feature a figure in a bowler hat, whose lack of identity is meant to bring a universal sense of humanity to the images.

Art Alley is located next to the HUB Gallery on the first floor of the HUB-Robeson Center. Art Alley can be viewed during regular HUB-Robeson Center operating hours. Admission is free. For more information on this and other exhibitions, contact the HUB-Robeson Galleries at 814-865-0775 or visit http://www.sa.psu.edu/usa/galleries online.
