Penn State Career Services is offering a new internship that will allow students to gain experience in conducting interviews and assisting students in interview preparation.
The Penn State Career Services Mock Interview Internship Program enables students who are interested in careers in human resources, business, management, or student affairs, to serve as interns, however students from any major are encouraged to apply. The mock Interviewing interns conduct and critique simulated interviews of students through a video-recorded format. The interns will conduct two interviews (one hour each) per week and offer constructive feedback. Mock Interviewing training takes place at the beginning of the semester and interns also meet in group supervision meetings periodically throughout the semester. Though the internship is unpaid, students in the past have successfully negotiated academic credit with their college.
Penn State Career Services is now accepting applications for the Spring 2010 internship. Applicants are normally juniors, seniors, or master’s degree students. Any student who is interested in this internship should visit 111 Career Services Center 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday and until 7 p.m. Tuesday in the next week to complete a form, drop off a resume, and set up a mock interview with either of the two Spring 2010 co-coordinators, Shawn Utecht and Maggie Scotilla.
Students who have questions about the program may contact Career Services at 814-865-2377.
