The University Faculty Senate will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, in 112 Kern Graduate Building. The items below will be considered at the meeting.
-- Following a review of the Senate advising policy, the University Advising Council noted that the current policy places responsibility for advising with the University's academic units; however, for this to be maintained, some revisions are necessary to bring the Senate policy more in line with current practice. A vote will also be taken on recommended revisions to Senate advising policies 32-10, 32-30, and 32-40.
-- The Senate also will vote on three separate revisions to the Senate Standing Rules, Article II, Section 6 (Senate Committees).
-- A 2008-09 summary on the types of student petitions (drop/add, withdrawal, late registration, etc.) by college, campus and unit will be presented, and the Senate secretary will report on the Senate officers' visits to seven campuses in fall 2009.
Members of the University community are invited to attend this meeting. Any member of the University community not a member of the Senate may request the privilege of the floor on any item of business already before the Senate. Such a request must be made to the Chair, through the Executive Secretary of the Senate, at least four calendar days before the meeting at which the individual wishes to speak.
