The 20th annual Miracle Ball raised about $139,000 for Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. More than 400 people attended the event on Nov. 21 at The HERSHEY Lodge. The ball celebrated Children’s Miracle Network’s 25th anniversary at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Proceeds will support lifesaving equipment, pediatric services and groundbreaking research at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
Children’s Miracle Network would like to thank the numerous sponsors who supported the Miracle Ball. This year’s $10,000 Miracle Maker sponsors were Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, Highmark Blue Shield, Johnson Controls, Pepsi and The Hershey Company.
Members of the Clancy family of Mechanicsburg were the event’s featured speakers. The Clancys shared how Children’s Miracle Network and Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital helped save the life of their son Kevin, who suffered a brain injury after he fell off an inflatable slide.
“It is good that we have friends and neighbors that make up the medical team here because it is second to none and their passion for their work, and our children, is amazing. It is very good for central Pennsylvania that this oasis of medical care is here,” said Kevin’s father, Eric.

The 20th annual Miracle Ball was held one week after a groundbreaking ceremony for a new free-standing Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. The new Children’s Hospital is expected to open in 2012.
