The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) board of directors elevated Raj Acharya, professor and head of computer science and engineering (CSE), to IEEE fellow during its November meeting.
Acharya was cited "for contributions to biomedical imaging and bioinformatics." Elevation to fellow is one of the IEEE's most prestigious honors. Less than 1/10 of 1 percent of the members are recommended for the grade each year.
